A capital project for an initiative that achieves a minimum 30 percent GHG emissions reduction through a retrofit of a community building when compared to baseline emissions.
Maximum of $5 million per project. Up to 25% as a grant and the remainder as a loan. Combined loan and grant for up to 80% of eligible project costs

A capital project for an initiative that makes significant reductions in energy-use and GHG emissions by retrofitting community buildings over time.

Capital program: Loan or credit enhancement for local home-energy upgrade financing program
A capital project for an initiative that capializes a local financing program for home-energy upgrades.
Two funding options are available:
Capital loan combined with grant
Loan to a maximum of $10 million
Grant of up to a maximum of 50% of the loan amount to support start-up and operating costs
The combined loan and grant can cover up to 80% of total eligible program costs
Credit enhancement:
Credit enhancement of $2 million pledged by GMF to support third-party financing
Applicant must demonstrate a minimum leverage ratio of 5:1 (credit enhancement to third party capital)
Grant of up to $5 million (not to exceed 50% of total eligible costs and not to exceed total start-up and operating costs)

Capital project: New construction of sustainable affordable housing
A capital project for an initiative that constructs new affordable housing projects to a higher environmental performance standard.
Financing (a combination of a grant and a loan) for up to 20% of total eligible project costs
Up to a maximum combined financing of $10 million
50% grant and 50% loan*

Financing (a combination of a grant and loan) for up to 80% of total eligible project costs
Up to a maximum combined financing of $10 million
Grants are available for 25–50% of total financing – grant and loan proportions are based on anticipated energy performance (e.g., a 35% energy reduction would result in a 35% grant*)

Capital project: Reduce fossil fuel use in fleets
A capital project for an initiative that reduces or avoids GHG emissions by 20% compared to an existing or modeled baseline measurement in any vehicle fleet that delivers municipal services.
Regular loans and grants: Receive a low-interest loan of up to $5 million and a grant worth up to 15% of the loan; cover up to 80% of your eligible costs.
High-ranking project loans and grants: These qualify for a low-interest loan of up to $10 million and a grant worth up to 15% of the loan; cover up to 80% of your eligible costs.

Capital project: Stormwater quality, community project
A capital project for an initiative that will remove 60% of TSS from a neighbourhood’s stormwater runoff. The target amount to be removed from ‘other contaminants’ will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
Regular loans and grants: Receive a low-interest loan of up to $5 million and a grant worth up to 15% of the loan; cover up to 80% of your eligible costs.
High-ranking project loans and grants: These qualify for a low-interest loan of up to $10 million and a grant worth up to 15% of the loan; cover up to 80% of your eligible costs.

Capital project: Septic wastewater systems
A capital project of an initiative that has the potential to capture and treat all wastewater in a target area to at least secondary treatment standards using septic system technologies.

A capital project for an initiative that removes 80% of TSS from a municipal facility’s runoff. The target amount to be removed from ‘other contaminants’ will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Capital project: Energy recovery or district energy
A capital project that reduces GHG emissions associated with fossil fuel or grid electricity use by at least 40% compared to current performance. You must be able to achieve this target within three years of implementation.
Regular loans and grants: Receive a low-interest loan of up to $5 million and a grant worth up to 15% of the loan; cover up to 80% of your eligible costs.
High-ranking project loans and grants: These qualify for a low-interest loan of up to $10 million and a grant worth up to 15% of the loan; cover up to 80% of your eligible costs.

Capital project: Retrofit of municipal facilities
A capital project for retrofits that reducesa building’s energy use by at least 30%. A minimum of 20% must come from energy efficiency and a maximum of 10% can come from on-site, renewable energy. The 10% maximum does not apply to geothermal or geo-exchange systems. Retrofit changes must meet or exceed the national and provincial building codes (NECB 2011 or provincial derivatives).

Capital project: Brownfield site redevelopment
A capital project for an initiative that brings a brownfield site back into economically productive use.
A low-interest loan is available and the amount is determined on a per-project basis. Certain municipal applicants may be eligible for a grant worth up to 15 percent of the loan.

Capital project: Water conservation, community project
A capital project for a retrofit initiative that reduces residential potable water use by at least 20%. The baseline for neighbourhoods is the average consumption over the previous three years (m3) on a per capita basis. For a facility or group of facilities, the baseline is the average overall consumption in the past three years.

A capital project for an initiative that reduces pollution in Canadian communities by improving transportation systems and networks or encouraging people to switch to less polluting transportation options.

Capital project: Waste reduction and diversion
A capital project that diverts at least 60% of municipal solid waste from your landfill, or moves beyond the 60% mark if you have already achieved it. If you are from a remote community, achieve a diversion rate of 15% over your current baseline.

A capital project of an initiative that generates renewable energy on a brownfield site, with or without its remediation.
A low-interest loan is available and the amount is determined on a per-project basis. Certain municipal applicants may be eligible for a grant worth up to 15 percent of the loan.
