Indoor Heat Bylaw Series: Workshop 1

Workshop 1: Understanding the Heat Risk Landscape in Canadian Communities

This workshop will provide an overview of the impact of frequent heat events on health and equity in our communities. We will explore the role played by local governments in responding to heat events, introduce CAP’s Indoor Heat Bylaw Project, and review North American maximum temperature bylaws. Finally, you will hear from the Canadian Environmental Law Association regarding the municipal authority to implement maximum temperature bylaws.

Webinar 2: Folding health and health equity into extreme heat adaptation

Join us for our second webinar of a new project funded by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM). This webinar will inform municipal staff and local stakeholders about: 

  • the health and health equity risks presented by extreme heat
  • the various ways that municipalities can reduce those health and health equity risks
  • the HPC tool that can be used by municipalities to reduce health inequities in their communities when developing climate change adaptation plans directed at extreme heat.
