The Regional Energy Coaches (REC) program is a nationwide initiative designed to improve energy efficiency in affordable housing. The program provides expert coaching, technical support, and funding guidance to housing providers.

Who can benefit from the REC program?

The program primarily supports municipalities, not-for-profit organizations, and housing cooperatives that are engaged in or planning energy-efficient retrofits or new constructions of affordable housing.

What services do Regional Energy Coaches provide?

Regional Energy Coaches offer a range of services, including: 

  • Walkthrough energy assessments
  • Planning for energy efficiency in a retrofit or new build
  • Support identifying energy-saving opportunities

Is there a cost to participate in the REC program?

Participation in the REC program is provided at no cost to eligible affordable housing providers. The program is co-funded by FCM’s Green Municipal Fund and the Community Housing Transformation Centre and delivered by the following partners:

How does the REC program help with funding?

Coaches also help providers understand how to effectively stack these funds to maximize their project's financial feasibility.

Yes, RECs can support projects at various stages, from initial planning and feasibility studies to implementation and post-project evaluation.
