GMF offers funding, training, coaching and resources to help Quebec communities address local climate risks and increase resilience. Whether you are starting a climate risk assessment, need a proven climate adaptation project for your community or are ready to expand your tree canopy, we can support you every step of the way.
Build your foundation
Strategic planning is the first step towards making informed, proactive decisions that protect your infrastructure and residents.
Climate-Ready Plans and Processes - Access up to $140,000 to develop climate risk assessments, adaptation plans or to integrate resilience into existing municipal systems like asset management and land use planning.
Adaptation in Action: Feasibility Studies - Receive up to $70,000 to evaluate the technical or financial viability of your next climate adaptation project before you begin
Urban forestry plans and studies – Access up to $175,000 to plan where new trees will make the biggest impact, ensuring the benefits of trees are felt by all community members.
Take immediate action
Whether you need a quick-win solution for a small community or a new project implemented, we provide funding to move your projects from planning to reality.
Adaptation in Action: Rapid Adaptation Projects - Designed for smaller communities (populations under 50,000), with up to $75,000 to fund proven climate adaptation solutions like installing shade structures, firebreaks, or rain gardens.
Adaptation in Action: Implementation Projects - Secure up to $1M for larger-scale climate adaptation projects that directly reduce climate risks, such as flood defences or shoreline restoration.
Tree Planting funding– Apply for up to $10M for a new tree planting project. By expanding your tree canopy, you’ll enhance physical and mental well-being, lower health costs and energy bills, reduce flood risks and you can help revive areas affected by fires.
